In-school support

Parents can offer a broad range of skills and knowledge which could benefit the school. SISA is keen to get parents more involved at the school so if you could help with any of the activities listed below please email us at

The key areas that parents could help support the school are:

       1. Decorating and minor maintenance work (spruce-ups):

The SISA In-School Support team hold regular ‘spruce up’ events over the Easter and summer holidays. So far, we’ve painted the music corridor walls, stained outdoor wooden posts and re-painted yellow warning lines. Dates for future ‘spruce-up’ events will be posted shortly so if you’re able to spare an hour or two let us know…..any help is appreciated!

These events are also a great way to informally meet other parents at school so if you have any decorating, gardening or DIY skills please email

          2. Careers talks and work experience:

Students benefit enormously from learning about a wide variety of career options. The school organises a number of events:

  • The World of Work event is held for year 9 and 11 annually in January
  • The year 12 Pathways and Apprenticeships event is held annually in October
  • Other smaller vocational activities happen throughout the year
  • Business and Enterprise mentoring in Year 10/11 and 6th form

Students also gain a lot from direct work experience. Year 10 and 6th form students have the opportunity for up to two weeks work experience.

If you’re able to help with any of the above or if you'd like more information please email

  3. Donations and fundraising:

The school is always looking for ways to enhance education at the school but a limited budget means they have to prioritise. Parents can help support the school via fundraising events, personal donations or business donations. E.g. for photography equipment, parents could directly donate old digital SLR cameras/lenses, make monetary donations or initiate a fundraising event for new equipment.

If you’re interested in getting involved in fundraising activities please email:

       4. Lunchtime or after school clubs:

Do you have a hobby, interest or skill that you are passionate about and which you’d like to share with the students? Would you be interested in helping start a new, or support an existing lunchtime or after school club (with support from teachers)?

If so, please contact us by email:

Watch out for more news of how you can help. We look forward to seeing you at St Ivo!
